Reiners announce standings after Wenatchee show

Larry Johnson of Port Angeles pulled his reining horse into a sliding stop during warmups at Appleatchee Riders practice arena during the Washington Reining Horse Association’s Northwest Regional Affiliate Finals on Oct. 9.

The Northwest Regional Affiliate Finals, hosted Oct. 9-12 by the Washington Reining Horse Association at Wenatchee’s Appleatchee Riding Club, was held in conjunction with the Fall Futurity Spectacular, sponsored by Caton Ranches.


Winners included East Wenatchee’s George McKinzie, riding RU Missin Diamonds. McKinzie took reserve champion in the Rookie class.

Kicking off the show was the freestyle classes while exhibitors enjoyed a pizza feed sponsored by the Reining Horse Association of the Northwest. Friday night Washington Reining Horse Association provided a dessert social, and Saturday night the 2008 WRHA Fall Futurity Spectacular Non-Pro, Open, and Limited open classes were held in conjunction with a catered barbecue dinner for exhibitors.


Winning a Lawson Bronze, a Bob Berg buckle and $1,336.30, the 2008 WRHA Fall Futurity Spectacular Open Class Champion was JP Don’t Jac Whiz Me, shown by David Hanson and owned by Jac Point Quarter Horses of Clements, Calif. Reserve champion was Okies N Crème, shown by John Irish and owned by Maria Irish of Eagle Point, Ore., taking home a Cowhorse Equipment saddle pad and $1,002.23.


The limited open futurity was won by What Whiz That, owned and shown by LaRae Powell of Auburn, winning a Morrison Bronze, a Bob Berg buckle and $538.70. Reserve champion of the limited open futurity was Katelyns Little Step, ridden by Robby Bianchi and owned by Frank Orozco of Central Point, Ore. They took home a Cowhorse Equipment saddle pad and $404.03.


Winner of a Lawson Bronze, a Bob Berg buckle and $1,332.34 in the non-pro futurity was Don’t Joke With Chic, owned and shown by Janice Free of Bondurant, Wyo. The reserve champion of the non-pro futurity was Talk Of The Flock, owned and shown by Jennifer Veva Slough, taking home a Cowhorse Equipment saddle pad and $1,036.26.
