Regional riders grab RHANW honors
Riders from across Central Washington guided their mounts to top honors at the Reining Horse Association of the Northwest's 2008 Spinout & All-Star Futurity, held Sept. 12-14 at Appleatchee Riders in Wenatchee.
Nearly 90 horses competed in the three-day event, which capped RHANW's season and helped prepare reiners for October's affiliate finals. The Fall Spectacular & Futurity and West Coast Regional Affiliate Finals, a combined event expecting to draw up to 300 reiners, will be held Oct. 9-12 at Appleatchee.
Last weekend, Jack Patton of East Wenatchee rode Chic on a High to top competitors in three classes — Limited Non Pro, NRHA Limited Non Pro, and NRHA Intermediate Non Pro. Patton is president of Appleatchee Riders and one of the region's top reiners.
Other Central Washington riders taking honors included Patton's wife, Karen, Mike Stokes of Manson, Mary Jo House of Ephrata, Nancy Harcus of Cle Elum, Terri Hunter of Ephrata, and Tony Kirschner of Palisades.
