Tack Room: New system offers fast aid for first aid
That barbed wire gash looks nasty, but help is on the way. A new system for applying quick-healing gels and patches has found its way onto tack and feed store shelves, and the manufacturer claims it speeds wound closure and decreases scarring.
The Equilogic Wound Healing System keeps lacerations, deep and shallow, moistened and flexible to draw off discharge, speed new cell growth and reduce infection.

The system, made by a human health-care product company in Kansas, contains three products:
• Highly absorbent glycerin wound dressing pads that keep the wound moist, reduce discharge and provide comfort and protection.
• A powder that absorbs 100 times its weight in fluid to help keep the wounded area clean and free of infection.
• A special collagen gel designed to stimulate rapid healing with reduced scarring.
The healing system (around $35) is available from tack and feed stores around Central Washington. For details, visit www.hyalogic.com.
