Album — October/November 2008

Got a fresh, new face you’d like to introduce? A shot of a recent breakthrough in the riding arena? Or maybe just a scenic sunset? We want to see, too! To share a photo, just e-mail a high-resolution (300 dpi) jpg to taylor@wenworld.com, and we’ll put it up on our Web site and consider it for the print edition of North Country Rider. Make sure to send along a brief (just a sentence or two) description of what’s going on in the picture — and don’t forget to tell us who took the photo so we can give proper credit where it’s due.
Here are some recent shots ...

A-Roarin' up the trail

Yakima’s Tim Kelly sent in this shot from his family’s August vacation, which included a trail ride with Hell’s A-Roarin’ Outfitters outside Gardiner, Mont., just north of Yellowstone National Park. The visible faces in the photo are, from right, Kelly’s 10-year-old daughter, Fiona, and family friend Sue Craig from England. That’s John Craig (with the ballcap) on the next horse back. See more photos from a summer of horse activities in our most recent album.

Alternate ride

Horses aren’t the only thing people can ride — though as this photo suggests, maybe they’re a little safer idea for most of us. Cashmere’s Chris Sims caught this picture during the Chelan County Fair’s rodeo, which ran Sept. 6-7.

Brunch time

Horses amble through the pasture buffet line on a perfect autumn morning. The three savored the sunshine as they munched on grass in a field just off Highway 97 near Campbell Road, just north of the Big Y.

Riding like the wind

Chris Sims of Cashmere caught this striking photo of Deb Herron as she and the other members of the Tillicum Riders drill team performed before the rodeo Sept. 6 at the Chelan County Fair.
