Beat the Heat at the Grant Count Fair
Hot weather at the 2008's Grant County Fair didn't slow down horse enthusiasts and fair workers.
Admirers
Fairgoers check out the ribbon-filled wall — and one of the winners — in the coolness of the new horse barn.
Ah, relief!
A Grant County Fair carnival worker soaks his hat in the cooling spray from a hose mounted atop a ladder at the center of the midway.
Dusty work
A Grant County Fair worker hoses down the dust on the 2008 midway while Tinkerbell looks on.
Fair Queen stops by
Morgan Marchand, right, displays a just-autographed photo of Grant County Fair Queen Marissa Spaid, who was on a tour of the horse barns. Spaid wrote on the photo that Morgan "did a great job at herdsmanship," and complimented her on the beauty of her horse, Sparkle. Joining Morgan are her brother Brandon, center, and barn hand Khole Barclay. All three are members of the Workin' Horse 4-H Club of Moses Lake.
Livestock auction
The annual Grant County Fair auction in the Ardell Pavillion was a good place to get out of the sun and watch the action.
Out of the gate
David and Erin Richins of Moses Lake were among the riders who endured triple-digit temperatures during the 2008 Grant County Fair. David took reserve champion in the Open Youth Trail Horse category.
Thirsty horse
Folks like Trisha Tolley, a leader of the Bits 'n' Spurs 4-H Club in Othello, survived triple-digit temperatures during the 2008 Grant County Fair.
