Heading home for hamburgers

Members of Methow Valley Back Country Horsemen saddle up for their annual autumn Hamburger Ride in the golden hills of Twisp's Big Buck Ranch.

Heading home for hamburgers

Members of Methow Valley Back Country Horsemen angle down a slope towards home during the group's annual Hamburger Ride on Friday, Sept. 26. Fifteen chapter members trailered up the Twisp River Road to ride trails on the Big Buck Ranch, which was virgin territory for several of the organization's newer participants. Riders reported it definitely felt like early autumn up in the high hills — golden grasses, leaves just about to turn, and clear, crisp air. Following the ride, Bill and Janet Ford of Twisp hosted a meal of grilled burgers at their home, which lies at the base of the Big Buck trails.
